영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.
지난주에는 엡 2:11-22 말씀을 통하여, 우리가 순전한 하나님의 은혜로 택하심과 예정을 입고 주의 대속의 은혜를 통하여 성령안에서 믿음오로 구원을 받아 하나님과 화평을 이루어 하나님의 자녀들이 되었는데, 이러한 수직적 화평의 은혜는 또한 인간간의 수평적 평화를 이루게 하는데 그것은 주님께서는 십자가 죽음을 통하여 인간들간의 막힌 담을 허셨을 뿐 아니라 자기 안에 한 새 사람을 지으시고 우리가 성령을 통하여 믿음으로 주님과 연합하여 새사람을 입음으로 우리들은 그리스도 안에서 하나가 되어 주님의 평화를 누리게 된 바, 또한 평화의 사도들이 되어 평화의 복음을 온 세상에 전하여야 한다는 것을 배웠습니다. 추수감사절 주일을 한주 앞두고 이번 주에는 신명기 8장을 통하여, 이스라엘 백성들이 이제 40년 광야 생활을 끝내고 가나안 복지의 땅에 입성을 준비하고 있는 시점에, 지난 광야 생활에서의 고난과 연단은 결국 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성에게 복을 주시기 위한 것이었고, 또 그들의 마음 깊은 곳으로부터 하나님의 은혜에 대한 찬양을 이끌어 내도록 하기 위한 것이었음을 살펴보면서, 우리도 이제 어린이들에게도 백신이 제공되고 있는 시점에 이제 새롭게 열리는 새시대를 어떻게 살아가야 할지 함께 고민해 보고 은혜 받는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다.
Last week, through Eph 2:11-22, we learned that we became His children after being reconciled with God by the salvation through the faith in the Holy Spirit by the grace of vicarious atonement of Jesus being chosen and pre-destined by God and also enjoy the peace with His people since His crucifixion broke the wall between the people and He created in Him one new humanity in which we may be one after being united with Christ through the Holy Spirit and we may enjoy the peace so that we have to proclaim this good news of peace as His agent of reconciliation. This week, one week before the thanksgiving Sunday, through Deuteronomy 8, I hope we may have time to think about how we will live in new era of the post-pandemic when our children will be vaccinated soon, by reviewing that through the discipline and training in the wilderness, God wanted to bless them and to elicit gratitude and praise from their deep heart.
1) 신명기 8장을 보면, 광야에서의 시간들은, 구세대들의 불신에 대한 벌이자, 동시에 새롭게 일어날 신세대들을 연단하셔서, 마침내 그의 택하신 백성 이스라엘에게 ,그들의 조상들에게 맹세하신 언약(v.18)대로, 복을 주려 하심이었다고 (v.16) 말씀하시면서, 결국 그렇게 하나님의 복을 받은 백성들이 하나님의 명령을 지켜 하나님의 길을 따라가며 하나님을 경외하며 감사하고 찬송하는 삶(v.6)을 살아가기를 원하셨다고 말씀하시고 있는데, 이는 결국 하나님께서 구상하셨던 창조 세계는 하나님은 복주시는 분으로 그리고 그의 백성들은 하나님의 복주심에 대한 반응으로 하나님께 감사하고 찬양하는 것 이었음을 보여 주고 있습니다.
Looking at Deuteronomy 8, the time in the wilderness seems not only the punishment for the misfaith of the older generations, but also, at the same time, the discipline for the new generations so that God might bless His chosen people Israel (v.16) as He promised to their ancestors (Covenant, v.18) and want them to keep His commandments, follow His way and live in the reverence of God (v.6). This shows the big picture in God’s mind in the kingdom of God that God blesses His people, while His people respond with thanksgiving and praise to the Lord.
2) 그런 하나님의 나라에 대한 큰 그림 아래, 하나님께서는 그의 택한 백성들이 하나님의 명령을 지키고 그의 길을 따라가며 하나님을 경외하면서, 하나님과 이웃을 사랑하는 삶을 살기를 원하셨습니다. 이스라엘 백성들에게 있어 광야 생활은 바로 그렇게 하나님 뜻대로 사는 삶을 훈련하는 과정으로, 특히 만나는 훈련의 의미가 집약되어 있습니다. 무슨 말인가 하면, 만나는 먼저 우리 인간들의 영육간에 필요한 모든 것이 하나님으로 말미암는다는 것을 깨닫게 하는 도구였을 뿐 아니라 (vv.2-3) 만나를 거두고 먹는 모든 과정에서 하나님의 명령을 믿고 지키도록 하는 훈련 이었습니다. (출 16:12-30에 보면, 사람의 수효대로 매일 먹을 만큼만 거두라고 명하셨으며 순종하지 않고 다음날까지 두면 벌레가 생기고 곰팡이가 피었지만, 거룩한 안식일에는 만나가 내리지 않기에 그 전날에 이틀 양식을 거두도록 명하셨으나, 안식일에는 만나에 벌레도 생기지 않고 곰팡이가 피지 않는 것을 보게 하셨는데, 이런 과정을 통해서 이스라엘 백성들을 하나님의 뜻대로 살도록 훈련하셨습니다.)
Under such a blueprint of the kingdom of God, God wanted His chosen people to live the life to keep His commandments, to follow His way, and to live in God’s will, i.e., to love God and love their neighbors. The wilderness was the place where God trained them to live in His will. In particular, this was done through the training with the manna. In other words, it was the training not only through which God made them realize that God is the provider for all spiritual and earthly life (vv.2-3), but also through which they follow God's commands in the process of harvesting and eating manna. (According to Exodus 16:12-30, God commanded that people gather only enough to eat every day. If people did not obey and gathered too much and left them until the next day, bugs and mold were grown in the manna. And also since manna did not come down on the holy Sabbath, God commanded people to gather food for two days in the day before the Sabbath. But in the day of Sabbath, people saw that the manna did not grow bugs and mold, even though they gathered the amount of manna for two days. In this way, they were trained to keep and follow God’s commands for them.)
3) 이렇게 이스라엘 백성들을 만나와 말씀으로 훈련하신 것은, 모든 축복이 하나님으로부터 말미암는 것을 깨달아, 축복의 근원되시는 하나님 앞에 겸손한 백성들로 훈련시키고자 함이셨는데, 이는 그들이 약속의 땅에 들어가서 자기의 힘으로 복을 얻었다고 하며 교만하지 않도록 하고, “겸손과 여호와를 경외함의 보응은 재물과 영광과 생명 (잠 22:4)”이라는 말씀처럼, 겸손히 하나님을 경외하면서, 하나님 만을 의지하여, 하나님의 법대로 살아가는 감사의 삶을 살도록 하시기 위함이었던 바, 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성들에게 광야의 훈련을 기억하라 (v.2) 그리고 하나님을 잊지말라 (v.11)고 권면하시고 있는 것입니다.
The reason why God trained the Israelites with the manna and the Word in this way was to let them realize that all blessings come from God and to train them as humble people before God who is the source of blessings. God wanted to make people not be arrogant so that they do not think that they earned the blessings by their own strength and power, rather God let them rely humbly on Him, and follow His will in His laws, as Prov. 22:4 says, “The retribution of humility and the fear of the LORD is riches and glory and life.” So God exhorted them to remember the training in the wilderness (v.2) and not to forget God (v.11)!
4) 판데믹이라는 초유의 사태를 보내고 이제 아이들도 백신을 맞고 있는 “With Corona” 시대에 추수감사절을 앞에 두고, 오늘 신명기 8장을 통해서 몇가지 교훈을 배우기를 원합니다. 첫째로는 하나님 나라의 큰 그림, 즉 하나님은 생명과 복(시104:27-30, 대상 29:12)을 내려 주시고 그 생명과 복을 받은 인간이 하나님을 경외하며 감사와 찬양을 올려 드릴 때에(시 50:23) 하나님은 영광을 받기를 원하셨는데, 특히 하나님의 전적인 은혜로 구원도 받고 또 하나님의 은혜로 판데믹도 잘 극복해 가고 있는 우리들이 궁극적으로 실현될 하나님의 나라의 삶, 즉 감사의 찬송과 경배의 삶을 지금 살고 있는지 되돌아 보기를 원합니다. 둘째로는, 하나님께서는 만나를 통하여 이스라엘 백성들을 훈련하셔서, 말씀에 순종의 삶을 살면서, 하나님을 모든 축복의 공급자 되시는 분으로 알고 믿고 따르면서, 하나님께 감사하고 찬양하며, 이웃을 사랑하는 열매들을 맺기를 원하셨던 것처럼, 올 한 해 하나님께 더 감사하고 찬양하며 이웃에게 하나님의 사랑을 전하는 삶이었는지 뒤돌아 보았으면 좋겠습니다. 그리고 마지막으로 그렇게 인간은 하나님의 말씀에 순종하면서, 하나님은 모든 복의 근원되시는 분이심을 고백할 뿐 만 아니라, 또한 인간은 천지의 창조주가 되시고 섭리주가 되시며 또한 공급주가 되시는 하나님께 감사하며 살아야 한다는 것을 이 세상에 보여 주고, 또 그런 하나님 나라가 이 땅에 세워지는데 쓰임받는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.
In this week, one week before the Thanksgiving Sunday when even all our children will be vaccinated soon while we are going through the pandemic, we would like to learn few lessons through Deuteronomy 8. Firstly, as Deut 8 shows us the big picture of the kingdom of God where God blesses His people forever (Psalm 104:27-30 and 1 Chronicles 29:12), while His people have to respond with thanksgiving and praise to the LORD (Psalm 50:23), I hope we may check whether we live the life of thanksgiving and praise and worship in response to His blessings of the salvation and the faithful protection during the pandemic as He originally intended in His creation and redemption and will be realized in the end. Secondly, as the meaning of manna was that God wanted not only to let the Israelites recognize Him as the source of all blessings for our life and salvation, but also to let them bear the fruits of the blessings to love God and love their neighbor, I hope that we may check whether we have been living the life of gratitude and praise and proclamation of His love to our neighbor, as God trained the Israelites to discipline them to live the life of thanksgiving and praise and fruits of love through the manna and let them know and believe and follow His Word. And finally, through such a life of thanksgiving and obedience to the Word, I hope we may show how God's kingdom looks like and also we will all be used to establish the kingdom of God.
5) 기도하옵기는, 우리 반석교회 성도님들과 가정 모두가 이렇게 만복의 근원되시는 하나님께로부터 모든 복을 받아 누리면서 한편으로는 하나님께 감사와 찬양을 드리며 또 한편으로는 그 받은 복을 온세상에 흘려 보내면서 하나님께 영광을 올려드리는 삶을 살 수 있기를 소망합니다.
I pray that our Bansuk congregations and their family will receive all the blessings from Him who is the fountain of all the blessings and live the life of gratitude and praise, enjoying God's great blessings and glorify Him in the world.

Q1 According to Deut 8:7-10, 16-18, we knew that God led the Israelites to the land flowing with milk and honey, gave not only good land, but also the talent to get wealth, to bless them. I wonder how God felt when the Israelites think that with their power and hands made them rich and even they serve the idolatry? 오늘 본문 신 8:7-10,16-18에서 보면, 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성을 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 가나안 땅으로 인도하셔서, 땅도 주시고 또 모든 재물을 얻을 능력도 주셔서 그들이 풍성하게 살 수 있도록 하셨음을 알 수 있습니다. 그런데 이스라엘 백성들은 마치 자기들의 능력과 힘으로 부유하게 되었다고 착각하며, 심지어 복의 근원되신 여호와 하나님을 잊어 버리고 심지어 다른 우상을 섬기기 까지 하였는데, 이것을 보시는 하나님의 마음을 어떠셨을까요?

I hope this will be a time for them to think about how a life of thanksgiving and praise looks like in our daily life, following God's commandments, living according to God's will, fearing God, and following His path. Q2 According to Today’s text, we noticed that we have different challenges or different grace or blessings which God gives us in the wilderness or in the promised land. While thinking where you are now, could you share what challenges you experience now or what God wants from you through those challenges and how God helps or give grace based on your context? 오늘 본문에 의하면, 광야에 있을 때와 약속의 땅에 들어갔을 때, 우리에게 오는 도전들도 다르고 또 하나님께서 우리에게 주시는 은혜도 다른 것을 알 수 있습니다. 현재 여러분들은 어디에 있는지 생각해 보시면서, 자기에게 주어진 도전들이 어떤 것들이 있는지, 그런 도전들을 통해서 하나님께서 각자에게 원하시는 것들은 무엇인지 그리고 하나님께서는 현재 각자의 상황에 맞게 어떻게 도와주시고 은혜 내려 주시는지 한번 생각해 보시고, 각자의 생각과 의견을 팀원들과 나누어 주시면 좋겠습니다.

Q3 According to Today’s text, it is said that it is arrogant to say that our power and hands made us rich since it is said that God granted those power and ability to get wealth. What kinds of talent and power do you have now? Who do you think give them to you? How do you want to use them? And when you succeed or get wealth, how will you thank God? 오늘 본문에서보면, 어떤 일을 이루거나 재물을 얻었을 때, 그것이 자기 능력과 자기 손의 힘으로 이루었다고 생각하면 이미 교만한 것이라고 말하는데, 왜냐하면 하나님께서 그렇게 재물 얻을 재능을 주셨기 때문입니다. 여러분들이 지금 가지고 있는 재능들이나 능력들은 무엇이 있나요? 그리고 그 재능들과 능력들을 누가 주셨는지 아시나요? 그 재능들과 능력들을 어떻게 사용하면 좋을까요? 그리고 그 재능들과 능력들로 성공을 하거나 부자가 되었을 때 어떤 자세로 하나님께 감사하면 좋을까요?.

On the week before the Thanksgiving Sunday, I hope you may have a time to write down thank lists for this year and to share how to thank God to each other.
